How to Play
The 2022 Quest Calendar‘s adventure—The Gates of Terralon—is very approachable. The game is very rules-light, providing only what you need to get into the action!
The Quest Calendar follows a story. Tear off the previous day to find the next obstacle. It could be combat, a challenge, some treasure, a trap, etc. Read what your hero has encountered and enjoy the art that will sit on your desk for the day!
Most days will present you with options to overcome the encounter and dice rolls to see how well your hero prevails. The dice to be rolled will be clearly detailed and instructions may also tell you which of your Hero’s abilities will modify the roll.
On the back of the previous day you tore off, you will find the outcome of your decision based on the results of your dice rolls.
You can’t have an adventure without fighting! Combat is similar to other encounters but involves more rolling. It also allows your hero to use their combat-based abilities. Like other days, the dice to be rolled will be listed on the front while the back of the previous day explains how to resolve combat.
As the year goes on, your hero will get better in many ways. Like other RPGs, you will level up and increase your traits, combat stats, and gain new abilities. You will also be able to buy in-game items with gold you take from your enemies. You may even find powerful magic items!
