The Mini
Made by Wizkids, Death Tyrants are an undead form of Beholder, similar to zombies, that retain some of their innate magical abilities. They are often used by powerful wizards as guardians. The tyrants are almost never encountered near normal Beholders, who find them abhorrent. Now they’re the stars of our Death Tyrant painting contest!
Categories
There are multiple ways to win!
All submissions are eligible for “Crowd Favorite,” and this can be awarded to a submission that has already won one of the other categories. Anyone who doesn’t win in any of the standard categories is eligible for the “Better To Be Lucky” category!
1 Traditional Paint
This category is for painters who used only the materials from the Death Tyrant Paint Night Kit. Our judge panel will look over all of the minis and choose two submissions that they feel stand out from the pack!
Prize:
- 1st Place – $30 Store credit
- 2nd Place – $20 Store credit
2 Freestyle Paint
This category is for painters who paint outside the lines! Anything goes! Use any paints, materials, and additions that you want!
Prize:
- 1st Place – Minion Recruitment – Your choice of 4 six-packs of plastic orcs, goblins, and dwarves from Massive Darkness.
- 2nd Place – A Sample of my True Power – Six sample miniatures from TseuQuest and Westfalia.
3 Most Creative
Based on previous contests, we expect this to be a difficult winner to choose! This category rewards your innovation and creativity!
Prize: Dead, But Fabulous
- $10 Store credit
4 Crowd Favorite
Our judges get out of the way and let the masses choose their favorite! Everyone who visits our brick-and-mortar store during the voting period can look at the display full of submissions and vote for the one that they like the most! Whichever mini receives the most votes is the winner!
Prize: A Final Crusade
- An iconic father/son duo “Jones”ing to be creatively used!
5 Better To Be Lucky…
This is a winner chosen at random from all submissions who haven’t won in any other categories! Lucky, eh?
Prize: Raid the Armory
- A sprue of plastic weapons for Reaper Miniatures
- $5 Store credit
The Timeline
These are the important dates/times to know for the Death Tyrant painting contest.
1 Submission Deadline
Drop off your mini at our brick-and-mortar store by closing time on Sunday 03/13/22. The minis will be displayed in-store for viewing and voting before we open the next day!
2 The Voting Dates
Voting begins Tuesday 03/15/22; Voting ends Wednesday 03/23/22. Come in to the store during this time to gaze upon the glorious submissions and to cast your vote for “Crowd Favorite!”
3 Winners Announced
On Friday 03/25/22, we will announce the winners in an article here on the Gaming Hall website as well as on social media platforms!
4 Pick Up Your Mini
On Saturday 04/02/22 we will take the minis off display, and will hold them in the office for you to pick up when you’re able.
